The issues of ensuring operation safety of the plant for liquefied natural gas production in the application of the native gas liquefaction technologies are considered. Safe operation of the plant facilities should be ensured with the complex of the activities aimed at the system reliability of the liquefied natural gas production, for example, based on STO Gazprom 2-2.1-512—2010, which allows to select the parameters of the complex on liquefied natural gas production and storage based on the dynamics of the prospective product demand. Application of the risk-oriented approach to ensuring industrial safety allows to study possible scenarios for the occurrence and development of accidents at the facilities of the complex under consideration for creating the required safety barriers. The outstanding feature of the production technologies for the liquefied natural gas is the operation in cyclic modes with significant (often alternate) thermal and hydraulic loads that effect directly on the indices of structural reliability and safety. In this regard, it is extremely important to have the reliable methods for calculating gas hydrodynamic and heat and mass transfer processes in the process vessels and units. Since the results of the calculations of these processes are basic when substantiating the routine procedures of operation of the plant of liquefied natural gas production facilities, it is evident that the plant safe operation should be ensured primarily by following the requirements of the process procedure for operation of production and auxiliary facilities of this plant.
