Issues of Ensuring Safety of Work in the Deep Sewage Wells

Occupational safety requirements to be followed during work performance in the sewage manhole using gas detectors are reviewed in the Article. Comparison of different methods for gas content control using hose and pump, as well as measuring cell and cable had been performed. It is proposed to select gas detectors depending on the manhole depth. Main requirements to gas detectors are specified, which can be used in the deep sewage manholes.

The industrial history of the national Ministry of Coal Mining Industry had accumulated the unique scientific and practical knowledge on preventing major industrial accidents. In the postindustrial period — after reorganization and restructuring of the Russian coal mining industry — new knowledge, tragically half open by the accidents, stopped entering the wide scientific-practical circulation, and was not working for preventing future industrial threats. The present day the acute shortage is observed of obtaining and implementing the results of native scientific research — the witness of the above stated is the chapter of major post-Soviet coal mining accidents.

The Problem of Ensuring Safety of Gas Discharge to the Atmosphere at the Facilities of Natural Gas Transportation and Storage

The problem was raised of ensuring explosion safety during gas discharge at gas pipelines and compressor stations prior to conducting repair works. The necessity is shown of using modern methods of mathematical simulation of gas discharge to the atmosphere at unscheduled operating modes. The recommendations are given on prevention of emergency situations during gas discharge through vents at gas pipelines and compressor stations.
