Calculation of Pipelines for Seismic Load with Application of Finite Elements Method

Of great interest is calculation of underground pipeline for impact of harmonic plane wave, front of which moves along the pipeline axis. Due to complication of computing processes, in this work at a first approximation the task was reviewed with application of a beam model, i.e. without account of deformability of the pipe’s cross section. Analysis was made of stress and strain state of underground oil main pipeline under condition of seismic load with application of software ANSYS.
Mechanism of Crack Formation in Membrane Structures of Waterworks

Issues of crack formation in backwater elements of membrane cable-stayed dams were reviewed. Cracks on long-period membrane were analyzed. Main characteristics of damage were taken. Method of visual examination was proposed. All these would allow to substantially improve reliability and safety of membrane cable- stayed dams operation.

It was noted that use of small-size forced draft airing devices and small-size modernized forced draft airing devices allowed to improve safety of underground mining and culture of labor, reduce by 20–25 % airing time during tunneling operations, increase distance from the air duct end to bottom of deadlock working by 20 and 16 m, ensure effective dust suppression directly in the bottom during blasting and sinking operations, improve labor hygiene, etc. Economic effect is from 3 to 5 thousand rubles for each 10 m of mine sinking.

It is demonstrated that structural damage of the material caused by its plastic deformation may be assessed with the acoustic test method long before macro cracking appearance. Dependence of methane educing intensity of average daily output per face is determined. Substantiation is given to necessity of both degassing coal seams with methane output of 13 cubic meters per tone per day and higher and studying gas recovery of unworked coals with the purpose of selecting schemes and determining rational parameters of degassing methane bearing coal beds.

Prognosticating of Individual Resource of Steel Cables

The article sets forth method of evaluating residual strength and individual resource of steel ropes with use of data of periodic test with magnetic defectoscopy method. The resource is calculated on the basis of strength factor, which is defined by calculating of strength mechanical model of the rope with defects. Input parameters of the models correspond to the measured defects, specifically: disruption of plies’ profile in metal and break of wires. The paper gives examples of calculating resource of the straight rope and of the cable operating on a pulley.
